Memorial Day Weekend
Well life flies when you're having fun (or not) this month so far has been filed with baseball and I do mean baseball at least 5 games per week and always 2 on Saturdays. Even when it was 100 degrees we had 2 baseball games and the Jaycee Relay races all on the same day. Needless to say I have not had much time at the sewing machine....boohoo. I was so excited for this long weekend I even took 2 extra days off from work thinking I would just bust and get so much done NOT. We were going out of town for a special 3 day baseball tournament and I even managed to sneak my little Janome in (it helps if you have a rolling bag that looks like a suitcase) I was planning on finishing the bindings for 2 quilts and hand stitch while I watched games - again a great big NOT ................it rained and it rained enough to get wet but not enough to stop a game. All this in a town that is know for only having about 12 days of rain a year and we managed to be there when they got 3 of them. Then I decided I would work in the motel room on an I Spy for my grandson and just got everything set up and about 15 blocks done when my daughter-in-law came over to the room and said son just called and they won the tournament by default and we were going home. HOME after we had already paid for the hotel and no way to get a refund....I asked. They played 2 games Saturday and 2 games on Sunday and were to play the championship bracket on Monday with a possibility of 3 games. They were undefeated and no one wanted to play them on Sunday so they won by default and we left the motel for the 3 hour drive home. This was an all state tournament with teams from all over the state that traveled to play and NO ONE wanted to play us on Monday. It was a tournament for 11 and 12 year old players and our team is basically all 11 year old players with only 2 that are 12. A couple of the teams had kids that were at least 6' tall. Well by 10pm on Sunday we were home and I am only 15 blocks closer to being finished with everything I thought I could get done in a 3 day baseball tournament. Now it is back to work tomorrow and I do not even feel rested yet. I think a nap is on the horizon this afternoon between loads of laundry and maybe those bindings.
